The AfDB has approved financing of over $18 million for Mauritania to launch the "3R-Water" project, a way to improve access to water and sanitation in rural regions most impacted by water scarcity and climate change, as well as water resource management in an increasingly fragile Sahelian context. The project is co-financed by the Mauritanian government with assistance from the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program – a partnership between the Bank and the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA).
