For the eighth consecutive year, the region faces a record number of people in need of urgent food and nutrition assistance, underscoring the severity of the crisis, that’s according to aid agency ReliefWeb. Projections for June to August 2025 indicate that across the Sahel, West and Central Africa, 52 million people could face acute food insecurity if appropriate measures are not taken.
