Algeria expelled 1,845 migrants to Niger’s border in a mass operation on April 19, rights group Alarmphone Sahara said Thursday, marking the largest single push this month. Detained in cities and bused to the desert zone "Point Zero," the arrivals in Niger’s Assamaka brought April’s total deportees to over 4,000. Some may attempt re-entry, the group warned. The move comes as Algiers faces strained ties with junta-led neighbors Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso, which recently recalled envoys over border disputes.
