Algeria has sentenced French football journalist Christophe Gleizes to seven years for “glorifying terrorism,” Reporters Without Borders (RSF) said Sunday, according to AFP. Gleizes, who wrote about the Kabylie region’s club JSK, was accused of contacts with a separatist group. RSF called the verdict “nonsensical,” arguing Gleizes was targeted simply for reporting. His family expressed shock, and an appeal is expected by October amid strained French-Algerian ties.
