Algeria not participating in U.S.-led African Lion 2025 military drills

Algeria did not join the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM)-organized African Lion 2025 exercises, despite earlier reports suggesting observer status. The drills, set to begin April 14 in Tunisia, will be the largest in history, spanning multiple nations with 10,000 troops from over 40 countries. Maneuvers will extend to Morocco, Senegal, and Ghana from May, focusing on counterterrorism, regional security, and deterring threats from armed groups and hostile states.
