Algeria proposes military mobilization law amid regional tensions

Algeria's government has drafted a law to streamline military mobilization amid strained relations with Morocco, Mali, and former colonial ruler France, officials said. The bill, approved by ministers this month, will be presented Wednesday by the justice minister. Tensions with France escalated last year after Paris backed Morocco’s Western Sahara autonomy plan, opposed by Algeria-backed Polisario Front. The move comes as army chief Said Changriha tours border regions overseeing military drills.
