Tesla launches Moroccan subsidiary to expand in North Africa
Tesla has formally entered Morocco with a new subsidiary, Tesla Morocco, incorporated on May 27 by Dutch entities Tesla International
Morocco authorized BTR New Material Group, a Chinese company specializing in electric batteries, to establish a manufacturing facility close to Tangier for cathode production, an essential battery component on Friday.
With an investment of 3 billion dirhams ($300 million), the plant aims for an annual output of 50,000 tonnes, as per Morocco's investment ministry. The initial production phase, set for September 2026, anticipates 25,000 tonnes, following the recent investment agreement with BTR.
