Chinese firm to build $500 million electric battery component plant in Morocco

BTR New Material Group has announced it will invest half a billion US dollars to construct a cathode manufacturing facility in Morocco. Cathodes are one of four central components in an electric battery. The investment by the Chinese component manufacturer will help meet soaring global demand for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. The facility is projected to produce 50,000 tons of cathodes annually, and highlights Morocco’s status as a hub for electric battery manufacturing and its central role in the green energy revolution.
