Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Algerian counterpart Ahmed Attaf on the sidelines of the G20, on Friday, in Johannesburg. According to a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs China is “ready to work with Algeria to consolidate political mutual trust, uphold the legitimate rights and interests of Global South countries, and promote an equal and orderly multipolar world.” China has become Algeria's largest trading partner, and the statement went on to say that both countries will continue to implement “the eight major initiatives for China-Arab practical cooperation and deepen cooperation across various fields, particularly in emerging industries.”
