CMA CGM moves ahead with Algeria port investments despite diplomatic tensions

French shipping giant CMA CGM is pushing ahead with port investments in Algeria as part of its Mediterranean expansion, including modernizing Syria’s Latakia port and redeveloping Beirut’s harbor. CEO Rodolphe Saadé met Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on June 2 to discuss upcoming projects in Oran and Djen Djen, aimed at easing congestion at Algiers port. The talks, delayed by an April diplomatic row that saw expulsions on both sides, signal CMA CGM’s commitment despite strained Algeria-France ties.
