CWP Global has halted its $40 billion AMAN green hydrogen and ammonia project in Mauritania due to insufficient offtake commitments, CEO Mark Crandall told Reuters. The 30 GW wind-solar initiative, targeting 10 million tonnes of green ammonia annually by 2030, stalled as buyers resist premium prices versus conventional ammonia. Crandall cited weak EU carbon pricing as a key hurdle. Similar delays affect CWP’s 600 MW Angola hydropower-based project. "Nobody wants to pay the premium," he said.
