Around 75 West African migrants were rescued off Mauritania after their boat, which left Guinea’s Kamsar port on July 15, suffered engine failure, Mauritania’s fisheries ministry told AFP on Sunday. Passengers, adrift for two days, were saved by a nearby ship and handed to coastguards. Guinean sources said over 100 were onboard. Thousands die each year attempting sea crossings to Europe.
