Three of the Maghreb countries featured in the latest the Global Firepower Index’s 2025 Military Strength Ranking. Topping the region, Egypt, ranked 6th in the world, with a fleet of 3,620 units. These include over one thousand M1 Abrams tanks. Algeria was ranked 11th with 1,485 battle tanks, composed primarily of Russian and Chinese-sourced equipment. Morocco came in 18th with 903 tanks.
