Israel in talks with Libya, others on taking Gazans
Israel is in discussions with Libya, Indonesia, Somaliland, Uganda and South Sudan about accepting Palestinians from Gaza, reports The Times
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty didn’t’mince words when describing the international community’s response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza during a meeting in Greece.
“The international community should be ashamed of the tragic situation unfolding in Gaza and the devastating actions being carried out by Israel,” Abdellaty said according to the Associated Press.
UNICEF data warns that all children under five in Gaza are at risk of acute malnutrition, threatening both their survival and development. Conditions are such where Palestinians must risk their lives to access food at feeding stations controlled by Israeli forces, where shootings have occurred.
“What is unfolding is a human tragedy, and the suffering witnessed is a stain on the conscience of the international community,” Abdelatty added.
Images of starving children have shocked people around the world and increased calls for an end to the conflict.
Calling Israel’s campaign a “systematic genocide,” Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s firm opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians. He urged stronger international action and solidarity to halt the violence and address the growing humanitarian catastrophe in the besieged enclave.
