Mother of jailed Egyptian activist ends hunger strike
Laila Soueif, the mother of jailed Egyptian-British activist Alaa Abdel Fattah, has ended her 10-month hunger strike, her family told
According to an Egyptian security source quoted by Egypt's Al Qahera News TV, senior officials of the rival Palestinian groups Fatah and Hamas met this weekend in Cairo to discuss forming a committee to manage Gaza's post-war governance. The talks are part of Egypt's broader mediation efforts to broker a ceasefire between Israel and militant group Hamas and to expand humanitarian access to the enclave.
