Egypt launches region’s first shark tracking program

Egypt has launched the Red Sea’s first satellite shark tracking program, according the Daily News Egypt. Led by the environment ministry with local and French partners, the initiative tagged nine tiger and oceanic whitetip sharks at key sites including the Brothers Islands and Elphinstone Reef. The program aims to map shark movements, strengthen biodiversity conservation, and support sustainable marine tourism, marking a regional milestone in science-based marine management.
