Egypt has formally requested to host group-stage matches of the 2034 World Cup, currently scheduled in Saudi Arabia, announced Hany Abo Rida, President of Egypt's Football Federation, at the 14th CAF General Assembly in Cairo. As Saudi Arabia prepares to host the tournament, marking its centenary of Egypt's first World Cup participation in 1934, Egypt hopes to secure a role in organizing one of the groups. Saudi Arabia, confirmed as the sole host on December 11 by FIFA, follows Qatar in 2022 and Morocco in 2030, in partnership with Spain and Portugal, as the third Arab nation to host the event.
