Maghreb countries fear return of radicalized citizens after Assad’s fall
The downfall of the Assad regime in Syria has been celebrated globally. But there are many questions about what happens
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi vowed to continue economic reform measures and enhance the political openness, in a public address during a family iftar banquet on Saturday, Egyptian media reports.
The banquet was held only a few days after President Sisi was sworn in for a third presidential term. In his speech he pledged to provide a decent life for the Egyptian people and safeguard national security.
President Sisi explained that the state's economic reform measures will focus on industry localization and expanding areas under agricultural cultivation. These measures will also include increasing foreign direct investment and bolstering support for the private sector.
Turning to social measures, Sisi affirmed his continued commitment to providing social protection to vulnerable segments of society. The president also promised to maintain support for the state of political openness and the reform process that began with his launch of the National Dialogue in April 2022.
He also affirmed his ongoing support for empowering youth and women in political, economic, and social spheres.
