AFP reports that British Egyptian activist Alaa Abdel Fattah has become sick after spending more than 50 days on hunger strike in prison. Fattah has suffered repeated bouts of vomiting over the past week and is being treated by prison doctors for suspected damage to his stomach and intestines. according to a letter he wrote to his family on Saturday. Fattah has been in an Egyptian prison for the majority of the last decade.
