The European Investment Bank (EIB) is assessing a €461 million railway project linking Zouérat to Nouadhibou to enhance Mauritania’s iron ore exports, Railway Supply reported. The EIB may provide €113 million in financing. The plan includes new tracks, locomotives, and maintenance equipment to extend the line to mining sites. State-run SNIM is leading the project, aiming to keep freight transport on rail and reduce road dependency.
