Brazilian aerospace firm Embraer is exploring Tunisia as a potential site for a production or assembly hub, Simple Flying reports, citing discussions between Embraer executives and Tunisia’s Foreign Investment Promotion Agency. The move is part of Embraer’s strategy to diversify its supply chain and expand manufacturing capacity, particularly to support its growing market across Africa and the Mediterranean.
A July 10 visit by Embraer’s vice president for Africa included assessments of Tunisia’s industrial infrastructure, engineering expertise, and aviation workforce. Tunisia hosts over 80 aerospace firms and 17,000 workers, and offers geographic proximity to Europe, fiscal incentives, and established subcontracting networks.
While Tunisia currently lacks Embraer operators, the facility would support nearly 200 Embraer aircraft already flying in Africa. The initiative would mark Embraer’s first industrial footprint in North Africa and strengthen Tunisia’s position in the global aerospace value chain.
