According to reporting by the EU Observer the EU appears set to rebuild its presence in Africa’s Sahel region after national governments confirmed the appointment of a new chief diplomat in the region on Wednesday. Ministers have confirmed Portugal’s former foreign minister, João Gomes Cravinho, as special representative for the Sahel.
