EU, Egypt agrees $8 billion deal on energy, migration

The European Union has signed a $8 billion package of loans, grants and energy cooperationdeals with Egypt. It will include billions in credit over coming years and deals to step upEgyptian energy imports to help Europe "move further away from Russian gas" amid the Ukraine war, a senior European Commission official told reporters.

Egypt is neighboring two conflicts – Israel – Gaz and Libya. The package will also support the already nine million migrants and refugees, that Egypt hosts including four million Sudanese and 1.5 million Syrians, according to the UN's International Organization for Migration.
