On a visit to Libya Russian FM Lavrov endorsed the relationship between Russia and Libya suggesting Russia plans a consulate in Benghazi as part of its aim to bolster bilateral relations. During his meeting with Vice President of the Presidential Council, Abdulla Al-Lafi, Lavrov discussed efforts to revitalize the Joint Committee's operations. The agenda also included facilitating the return of Russian firms to Libya, particularly in the oil, gas, and infrastructure sectors.
