France, Egypt push for Gaza truce in Cairo

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, in a meeting with his French counterpart on Wednesday, urged parties to display "the necessary flexibility" to reach a truce in Gaza that would "stop the bloodshed of Palestinians."

During a "quick visit" to Cairo, French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne met with his Egyptian counterpart. According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, the two ministers "exchanged assessments on the ongoing truce negotiations between Hamas and Israel."

Sejourne's regional tour has taken him to Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Israel in recent days.
