According to reporting by Reuters, a finance ministry employee has been placed under formal investigation, by French prosecutors, on suspicion of spying for Algeria. The employee is accused of handing details on Algerian asylum seekers, including known opponents of the current Algerian government, over to an Algerian contact working at the Algerian consulate in Paris.
