French Foreign Minister Jean Noël Barrot confirmed France's support for Morocco's claim over Western Sahara, ahead of his upcoming visit to Algiers. This visit marks a significant move in Franco-Algerian relations following disputes over the territory. Speaking to the National Assembly, Barrot emphasized the Moroccan autonomy plan as the only "realistic or credible" solution, supported by France within the United Nations framework, setting the stage for further discussions in Paris with Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita.
