A French Senate report presented on Wednesday has suggested ending the 1968 Franco-Algerian migration cooperation agreement. According to French media outlet SudOuest, centre-right Horizons party Senator Olivier Bitz and LR senator Muriel Jourda, co-authors of the report, called for France to “move away from the status quo. The rich and painful history between our two countries cannot justify the fact that we favor immigration of Algerian origin".
