GCC countries reaffirm support for Morocco’s territorial integrity over Sahara

Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries met in Riyadh Sunday and in the preamble of the meeting, and through the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Al-Budaiwi, they reaffirmed their continued support for the Moroccan Sahara and the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco.

The joint ministerial meeting between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Kingdom of Morocco was attended by Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, and the foreign ministers of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The council reiterated its steadfast support for Morocco on the Western Sahara dispute.

The Ministers endorsed the Autonomy Plan initiative as the sole solution to resolve the dispute. The statement in support of Morocco came at the conclusion of a joint working session held at the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The spokesman stressed the importance of the strategic partnership between Morocco and the GCC countries, and the aspiration of the GCC countries to strengthen economic relations between the two sides.
