Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced plans to send naval vessels to patrol outside Libya’s territorial waters to deter migrant smuggling, Ekathimerini reports. The move is in response to a surge in arrivals on the Greek islands of Crete and Gavdos. Most migrants departed from Tobruk, Libya. Mitsotakis said the mission would proceed in coordination with Libyan and EU partners, amid strained bilateral ties. He also said he will raise the issue at the upcoming EU summit.
