The International Development Association, (IDA), which is a member of the World Bank, has provided an additional $36 million for Mauritania’s Social Safety Net System Project II. The Social Safety Net System Project I was launched in 2020 to help the most vulnerable populations across the Sahel region in Mauritania. The initiative targets food security, access to clean water, climate change and education aiming to improve the lives of those most vulnerable. The financing agreement was signed by Mauritania’s Minister of Economy Ould Mohamed Saleh and World Bank representative Christina Santos.
