IMF hails resilience of Morocco’s economy despite recent shocks

The IMF has praised Morocco’s economic resilience despite recent setbacks such as the 2023 earthquake and water scarcity, saying the economy has grown by 3 % in 2023 due to strong exports and a rebound of domestic demand. In a press release issued Wednesday, the Fund’s Executive Board, said Morocco’s economic growth is expected to gradually pick up to 3,5 % over the next few years, boosted by the continued implementation of the structural reform agenda. Inflation fell over the course of 2023, mainly as the impact of supply shocks faded.
