Italy's Ambassador to Tunisia, Alessandro Brunas, had to leave a book fair in Tunis, after protestors loudly criticized Italy's support for Israel, according to the New Arab.
The protestors, waving a Palestinian flag, interrupted the international Book Fair, shouting "Italy is fascist".
Security personnel promptly escorted Brunas out of the event.
According to Italy's National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT), Rome exported "weapons and ammunition" to Israel valued at €817,536 ($885,964) between October and November 2023, with €233,025 worth shipped in October and €584,511 in November.
