The formal launch of the Arab Common Electricity Market has been initiated at the 15th session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity held in Cairo. Assistant Secretary-General for the Economic Sector, Ali Al-Maliki, delivering remarks on behalf of the Arab League, hailed the launch as a “historic event” that underscores the depth of Arab cooperation in the electricity sector. The agreement to establish the market was signed by 11 countries, including Egypt, Kuwait, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, UAE, and Yemen.
