Libyan authorities detained around 1,500 undocumented migrant workers in a raid east of Tripoli Saturday, according to AFP. Labour Minister Ali al-Abed said the migrants lacked legal documents and were living in unsafe, unregulated housing. The workers, mostly from Egypt and sub-Saharan Africa, will be transferred to official centres, with legal proceedings pending. The crackdown follows renewed EU-Libya talks on irregular migration.
