Libya’s UN-backed government, led by Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah, said Monday it is pursuing a permanent ceasefire after clashes in Tripoli left at least eight dead, AFP reports. Fighting erupted on May 13 between the Dbeibah-aligned 444 Brigade and rival factions. A UN-backed truce committee is now working to stabilise the capital, as public anger over militia violence and corruption sparks growing protests demanding the resignation of Dbeibah.
