Libya Prolongs Shutdown of Border Passage with Tunisia

Libya's shutdown of its main border crossing with Tunisia this week will remain in force until authorities put an end to smuggling involving powerful armed groups, an official said on Friday.

Interior Minister Imad Trabelsi emphasized the government's commitment to securing borders and tackling crime and smuggling during a press conference.

Trabelsi firmly stated that there would be no compromise in the fight against drug trafficking and smuggling activities, highlighting the Ras Jedir crossing, approximately 170 kilometres west of Tripoli, as a global epicenter for smuggling and criminal activities.
