A Libyan man accused by the International Criminal Court (ICC) of crimes against humanity and war crimes was arrested in Germany on a sealed warrant, the court said Friday. Khaled Mohamed Ali El Hishri, a senior official at Tripoli's Miriga Prison, where thousands were detained, was arrested Wednesday. The ICC alleges he oversaw murder, torture, and sexual violence from 2015-2020. Prosecutors called the arrest a key step toward accountability and thanked Libyan victims and witnesses for their cooperation. His trial would be the ICC's first for a Libyan suspect.
