Libya's east-based parliament announced Tuesday it is ending the term of the interim Government of National Unity (GNU), led by Abdulhamid al-Dbeibah. The parliament, meeting in Benghazi, declared its rival Government of National Stability, headed by Osama Hammad, as the sole legitimate government. Parliament also appointed Speaker Aguilah Saleh as the high commander of the army, further intensifying the power struggle in the country.
