Mauritania and the Czechia signed a defense cooperation agreement on Tuesday covering military training, counterterrorism, cybersecurity, and protection against chemical and nuclear threats. The MoU formalizes Czech military training for Mauritanian forces under a NATO mission lasting until 2026. The deal follows Czechia’s President Petr Pavel’s April visit—Prague’s first at this level—highlighting Mauritania’s strategic role for European security and deepening bilateral ties in defense, trade, and rare earths.
