Mauritania denies ties to Sudan RSF adviser’s visit

The Mauritanian government has distanced itself from the recent visit of Mohamed Al-Mukhtar, political and legal adviser to Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander. Government spokesperson El-Houssein Ould Meddou stated that Al-Mukhtar’s trip was a private visit, not an official invitation. Al-Mukhtar reportedly attended events by a Qadiriyya-affiliated religious group and a gathering in Nimjatt village. His presence sparked public backlash, with critics accusing him of ties to alleged RSF atrocities in Sudan and demanding his expulsion.
