Morocco and Russia discuss strengthening relations and UN Security Council agenda

Moroccan and Russian diplomats met in Moscow Thursday to discuss strengthening ties and pressing issues facing the UN Security Council, according to Moroccan media citing a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry. Talks between Morocco's ambassador to Russia, Lotfi Bouchaara, and Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin addressed “several topical issues in the Middle East and Africa on the agenda of the UN Security Council,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said. Special attention was given to the Sahara issue, ahead of forthcoming discussion by the Security Council, the statement added. The Russian side emphasized the importance of reaching a just and lasting solution in alignment with UN Security Council resolutions and the principles of the UN charter, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Additionally, Bouchaara held talks with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov. Discussions centered bolstering traditionally friendly relations and deepening political dialogue regarding shared concerns in the Middle East and Africa, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in another press statement.
