Morocco and Spain have pledged to strengthen military and security ties following the 11th meeting of their Joint Military Commission in Rabat, according to Moroccan World News. Senior officials, including Morocco’s Inspector General Mohammed Berrid and Spain’s Director General of Defense Policy Fernando López del Pozo, highlighted progress on joint training, intelligence sharing, and arms cooperation.

Spain’s arms exports to Morocco surged in 2024, reaching €21 million—up from €1.5 million the previous year—driven largely by sales of bombs, grenades, and rifles, according to Spanish government data. While Morocco’s arms exports to Spain remain minimal, bilateral security collaboration has intensified, particularly in counterterrorism operations.

Morocco’s intelligence services continue to assist Spain in managing irregular migration and dismantling extremist networks. Both countries view each other as strategic allies critical to regional stability, with plans to expand joint activities through 2025.
