Morocco's King Mohammed VI on Thursday approved a 96-billion-dirham ($10.3 billion) rail expansion, including a high-speed line to Marrakesh by 2030, state media reported. The 53-billion-dirham project will connect Kenitra to Marrakesh via Rabat and Casablanca, cutting travel times ahead of Morocco's 2030 World Cup co-hosting. The 350 km/h line will reduce Tangier-Marakesh trips to 2 hours 40 minutes. The plan aims to boost tourism and develop Morocco's rail industry.
