Mother of jailed Egyptian activist ends hunger strike

Morocco successfully stopped Algeria from falsely claiming the Moroccan "caftan el-ntaa" as Algerian heritage during a UNESCO meeting in Paraguay. Moroccan UNESCO ambassador Samir Addaher’s formal objection led the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Heritage to remove the disputed image from Algeria’s submission. This marked the first objection accepted in UNESCO history. Morocco’s Ministry of Culture provided evidence proving the caftan’s Fassi origin, preserving its cultural integrity.
