Morocco has officially opened a new consulate in Miami, Florida—its fourth diplomatic mission in the United States—aimed at serving the estimated 140,000 Moroccans living across the country.
The inauguration was attended by Morocco’s ambassador to the U.S., Youssef Amrani, who described the opening as a reflection of “the Kingdom’s deep attachment to its community abroad, and a clear desire to support it with proximity, efficiency, and dignity.”
Located strategically in Miami, the consulate is set to serve residents across some 20 states, from Florida to California. Morocco’s Consul General in Miami, Chafika El Habti, emphasized the facility’s modernized approach, including enhanced digital services to streamline consular access.
“This is a real added value,” El Habti said, “as the consular reach of this consulate extends from Florida to California.”
Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, present at the ceremony, praised the consulate as a symbol of the strong U.S.–Morocco relationship. “This consulate goes beyond being a bridge connecting Morocco with Miami—it connects the Kingdom to a key region of the United States.”
The U.S.–Morocco relationship has grown in recent years, particularly following the Trump administration’s recognition of Morocco’s autonomy proposal for Western Sahara. In return, Morocco joined the Abraham Accords and normalized diplomatic ties with Israel.
