Morocco tourism surges 19% in first half of 2025
Morocco welcomed 8.9 million tourists in the first half of 2025, a 19% year-on-year increase, according to Morocco World
The Canadian think tank Fraser Institute’s Economic Freedom of the World index has placed Morocco as the leader among North African countries. The index evaluates five main criteria: government size, legal system and property rights security, sound money management, international trade freedom, and regulation. In the North African context, Morocco ranked 90th out of 165 nations with a score of 6.46 out of 10, ahead of Tunisia (118th with a score of 5.94), Mauritania (120th with 5.91), Egypt (142nd with 5.36), Libya (157th with 4.65), and Algeria (161st with 4.64).
