Morocco records 9% increase in rainfall for 2024, still falls short of 30-year average

In 2024, rainfall volume increased by 9%, reaching 224 millimeters up to April, announced Morocco’s Agriculture Minister Mohamed Sadiki.

Despite this uptick, the figure is still 27% below the 30-year average, highlighting the persistent challenges of erratic weather patterns, he stated.

Water allocation for large, irrigated regions has been cut, with just 680 million cubic meters available this season, representing a 44% reduction in the area that can be irrigated compared to previous years.
