Morocco is set to complete a new border crossing with Mauritania at Amgala. Once opened it will be the second land connection between the two countries. It is a $5 million project that encompasses a 93-kilometer road connecting Smara to the Mauritanian border through Amgala and Tifariti. It will allow for a significant shift in trade routes across the Sahara.
