Morocco plans to review its trade agreement with Turkey and push for increased Turkish investment to counter a growing $3 billion trade deficit, largely driven by Turkish fabric imports, two sources told Reuters. Trade official Omar Hjira will soon visit Turkey—Morocco's sixth-largest trading partner—to discuss measures to reduce the deficit, the sources said on Tuesday. The 2004 trade deal was amended in 2019, including a 90% tariff on Turkish textiles. Morocco's trade ministry did not immediately comment.
